George King

Chief of Police

Chief King holds a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University. Prior to joining the KPD, he was employed in the accounting field. Chief King is a past-president of the Kearny Board of Education. He is also an accomplished bagpiper with the St. Columcille United Gaelic Pipe Band headquartered here in Kearny. Chief King is a second-generation KPD officer, his father having retired as a deputy chief. Before ascending to command the department, Chief King was deputy chief for many years. Prior to that he held assignments supervising the administration of the Chief's Office, overseeing the Planning/OEM Office, and in the Patrol Division. As a patrolman, Chief King was trained in crash reconstruction and served as a Traffic Control Unit officer where he investigated fatal and serious motor vehicle accidents.

Scott Macfie

Deputy Chief

Deputy Chief Macfie is a graduate of Kearny High School where he lettered in track. Prior to joining the police force, he was employed by payroll corporation ADP and ran a successful small business in Kearny. D/C Macfie is an avid Jets fan and season ticket holder. He is a repeat finisher of the Tour de Force NY charity bicycle tour having successfully ridden from Washington, D.C. to NYC and from Boston to NYC. Prior to his current command, D/C Macfie held supervisory assignments in the Investigations Division, Directed Patrol/Street Crimes Unit, and the Patrol Division.

John Gouveia

Captain

Captain Gouveia holds a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University and a bachelor's degree in mathematics and statistics from Rutgers University. He is a second generation Kearny Police captain, his father having retired from that position. Captain Gouveia is an avid distance runner, is a prior winner of the New Jersey Marathon and has represented the department at the World Police and Fire Games on three occasions. In his spare time, he also works with several classic rock groups. His designs have been used in album artwork and his photographs have been used in promotional materials. He has also worked on concert crews at venues both nearby and abroad as well as managing their social media presence.
 

Timothy Wagner

Detective Captain

Captain Wagner holds an MBA and a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Caldwell University. He is a youth sports coach who considers himself to be New Jersey's #1 Baltimore Orioles baseball fan (Capt. Gouveia being NJ's #2 Orioles fan). Captain Wagner has successfully finished both the Police Unity Tour and the Tour de Force NY by riding a bicycle between New York City and Washington, D.C. for charity. He has held assignments in Patrol, the Chief's Office, Community Policing, County Homicide Unit, and Internal Affairs. Captain Wagner has also held part-time assignments in Counterterrorism and as a paramedic on the Emergency Services Unit.

David Feldhan

Captain

Captain Feldhan holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from St. Peter's University. Prior to joining the police department, he was employed as an elementary school teacher in the Kearny School District. He is a fan of the Mets, Jets, and Everton F.C. English soccer team. Captain Feldhan enjoys leading and teaching his officers as a Patrol captain. He is thankful to have escaped the doldrums of administrative work in the Chief's Office where he was a supervisor prior to his promotion to captain. As a patrolman, Captain Feldhan was trained in crash reconstruction and served as a Traffic Control Unit fatal accident investigator where he was commended by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for his DWI enforcement work. 

Chuck Fergie

Captain

Prior to attaining his current rank, Captain Fergie served as a plainclothes detective in the Vice Unit and as a supervisor in the Detective Bureau. Known for his ability to motivate the troops, Captain Fergie keeps a bowl of chocolates on his desk to brighten the spirits of all who visit his office. A graduate of Kearny High School, Captain Fergie attended the University of Tampa and Rutgers University. He is a loyal Mets, Giants, and Devils fan.
